Best of Charlotte #89: Queen's Landing
Founded in 1990 by two good friends trying to ‘avoid retirement’, Queen’s Landing started out as just a single 149-passenger riverboat named ‘The Catawba Queen’ that ran cruises on Lake Norman. Over the years, Captain Jack Williams has seen his dream come to life here at Queen’s Landing, as it has evolved from that single riverboat into the entertainment venue that it is today; including 30 boat slips, two cruise-liners, mini golf, and an outdoor bar and restaurant.
Today, ‘The Catawba Queen’ continues to trek the 520 mile shoreline that we call Lake Norman; or ‘The Inland Seas’ as it’s known to some. What a treat to step foot on this majestic and historic boat to take in the sights and learn all about Lake Norman history on one of the daily sightseeing cruises! In addition to ‘The Catawba Queen’ The Captain added another beauty to his fleet in 2004. Best known as “The Lady of the Lake’, this sleek 98 foot luxury yacht is a stunning work of craftsmanship. At night, she can be seen cruising around the lake for evening dinner cruises or private parties and weddings.
Not a fan of the seas? Fear not – Captain Jack Williams has got you covered! Nestled in the heart of Queen’s Landing sits ‘Jack’s Dockside Grill and Patio’, complete with a tiki bar and stunning lake views. You can relax in the comfort of a dockside patio chair with a cold drink in hand, while the kids play a round of mini-golf or feed the ducks from the dock.
The family friendly atmosphere and array of activities, makes Queen’s Landing a MUST for your summer to-do list! Please visit their website for a complete list of events, tour times, and season hours.
